Are there still games on Saturdays?

Yes! The program format is made up of two different components: a midweek practice and a game on Saturday.

What do you mean there aren’t going to be teams, how will they play their games?

Game time will take place at in the gymnasium of the E.J. Freeland YMCA in Fort Erie on Saturdays. Scores will be kept during the game but will not be recorded and no standings will be kept. The Youth Sports Developmental Program is about playing the game for fun and putting new skills into practice.

How are the teams going to be made?

Parents will know, in advance, what time the game is and teams will be decided by a random selection. Once they have been established, a 40 minute game will take place giving the players a chance to show off the skills they have learned.

How will I know what time my child plays their game?

Game times will be communicated to the parents prior to the program start. Each player will be assigned a game time that will remain consistent from week to week, for example every Saturday at 10:00 am. Game times will typically take place on Saturday mornings between 9:00 am and 11:00 am.

If you keep score during the game why won’t the final score be stored or be part of standings?

The program aims to focus on playing for the enjoyment of the game but that doesn’t mean there isn’t going to be competition among the players. What is the cost?

The current cost of the program is $82 for current YMCA members and $117 for community participants. Please refer to the program registration form or contact the Fort Erie YMCA for up to date pricing information.
