YMCA Summer Day Camp Information

Safety is #1

YMCA Day Camp has been reimagined to promote the health and safety of our campers, their families, and our staff team. We continue to work with provincial and local health authorities to ensure the safest possible camp experience. We will provide regular updates to camp families online and by email regarding any changes to camp plans, and additional COVID-19 safety measures such as daily screening and responding to symptoms/illness, masking, cohorting, hand hygiene, physical distancing, cleaning and disinfection or other measures. Our top priority is providing a safe environment for our campers and staff.

Campers from all programs will be outside for at least a portion of their camp day and should dress appropriately for outdoor activities.

Hours of Operation
In-person YMCA Day Camp operates from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For your convenience, drop off at each camp site begins at 8:00 a.m. and pick up ends at 5:00 p.m.

Days of Operation
We plan to operate Summer Day Camp from July 4 to September 2, 2022. All camps run Monday to Friday, except for week 5; camps do not operate on August 1.

Note:

  • Extended Care and Busing are not available for the summer of 2022
  • One and two-week Day Camps are available; please refer to camp descriptions for more information
  • Swimming is not part of the planned program for the summer of 2022

Helping Hands
This is available for children who would benefit from a small ratio and additional support in Camp. For more information, please click here.

Camper Age
Children must be the correct age for the camp by the first day of the camp.

Screening
YMCA Day Camp follows the same health screening practices as Schools and Licensed Child Care Centres.
Parents/caregivers must complete the Ontario health screening at home each day for children attending.

Illnesses
Please keep your child(ren) home if they are feeling unwell. Access to YMCA Day Camp will not be permitted if the individual does not pass the screening that day. If a child begins to develop any symptoms during the program, the parent/caregiver will be notified and will be required to pick that child up immediately. For the safety of everyone involved, the child(ren) will be removed from the group while waiting to be picked up.

Drop-off and Pick-up

Please line up for drop-off and pick-up so that we can effectively sign in and sign out all campers. Children and individuals dropping off are encouraged to maintain physical distancing while waiting in line. Only one adult per family should approach the sign-in table for drop-off or pick-up.

Only individuals 16+ listed as authorized pick-up during the registration process will be permitted to sign participants out. Authorized pick-ups, including parents/caregivers, must show valid, government issued photo identification daily.

Entering Camp Area
For the safety of everyone involved, parents/caregivers and authorized individuals must remain at the sign-in and out area. They will not be permitted inside the program.

To make arrangements for late drop off or early pick up, please speak to the YMCA staff at sign-in or out. You may also contact the Day Camp office at (905) 934-9755 ext 280.

Failure to follow the YMCA safety practices may result in removal or dismissal from the Day Camp program at the discretion of the YMCA.
