YMCA Kid Fit Online

Many YMCA Members are familiar with our YMCA Kid Fit Programs.

These programs are designed for children and youth from ages 3 to 12 years. They provide opportunities for fun, social engagement, and include activities that develop physical literacy. You may recall that we offered three different streams within our YMCA Kid Fit Programs: YMCA Kid Fit Cardio, YMCA Kid Fit Yoga and YMCA Kid Fit GameOn.

We are delighted to announce that we have developed an ONLINE version of our popular YMCA Kid Fit program which is available now for registration!

YMCA Kid Fit Online takes the best of all of our previous activity streams and combines them in a 30 or 45 minute class. Each class is action-packed and will include a mix of Cardio, Yoga and GameOn activities.

  • Kid Fit Online runs once per week for 8 weeks
  • Dates: February 16 to April 6
  • Ages groups: 3 to 5 years, 6 to 12 years
  • Fee: $44.00 per child/youth per session (1 class per week for 8 weeks)

Timing

Select your first choice from the following:

3-5 year olds –

Tuesdays 6:00 pm – 6:30 pm
Wednesdays 5:00 pm – 5:30 pm
Saturdays 10:00 am – 10:30 am

6-12 year olds –

Tuesdays 6:45 pm – 7:30 pm
Wednesdays 5:45 pm – 6:30 pm
Saturdays 10:45 am – 11:30 am

Program Information

This circuit-based program focuses on cardiovascular endurance and strength. Obstacle courses allow children to engage in activities that help improve their hearts and lungs. These fun circuits enhance fundamental movement skills and improve stamina.

In a setting where play is encouraged, YMCA Kidfit Cardio sets the tone for an active, healthy lifestyle.

With a focus on strength, endurance and flexibility, this program enhances physical literacy; increasing body awareness, balance, coordination, and concentration. Incorporating music and stories sparks imagination.

YMCA Kidfit Yoga helps increase self-awareness, body control, and boost self-esteem.

YMCA Kidfit GameOn focuses on coordination, movement skills, and object control. These age-appropriate games with aims, teach children and youth how to handle balls, pucks, sticks, and racquets while staying active with fun individual and team-based activities.

More fun programs to keep you moving

This program builds physical literacy by using rhythm, coordination and creative movement.

There will be two age groups: 2-3 year olds and 4-5 year olds (parents are encouraged to participate with their child).

Different types of dance will be taught in this half hour class for six weeks.

Course Timing

  • 2-3 year olds: Thursdays, 4:00 pm – 4:30 pm
  • 4-5 year olds: Thursdays, 4:45 pm – 5:15 pm

Start Date: February 25

Fee: $27.00

Online courses

This course is designed to promote the responsible management of common situations that may arise while children are under the care of babysitters.  The study material covers such topics as becoming a successful babysitter, caring for children from three months to school aged, injury prevention and Basic First Aid.

Course will be taught over an online platform and will involve two take home assignments.

Ages: 11-14 years

Course times:

  • March 13 and March 20, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
  • April 13 and April 15, 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Fee: $60.00 + HST

This course teaches necessary skills and knowledge to be safe and responsible when home alone for short periods of time.  It will help them understand how to prevent problems, handle real life situations and keep them safe and constructively occupied.

Course will be taught over an online platform.

Ages: 10-13 years

Course times:

  • March 13, 9:00 am – 12:00 noon
  • April 14, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Fee: $25.00 + HST
