At the YMCA, we believe in the limitless potential of every young person. Our Child and Youth Programs give children and youth ages 3–15 opportunities to try new things, build skills, get active, and connect with others in a welcoming and supportive environment.

From registered specialty programs, to swim lessons, to drop-in activities, programs are designed to help children and youth:

YMCA Child Membership

Serve, Volley, Rally!

Badminton Skills encourages participants to develop their confidence in a fun and supportive recreational environment. Participants will learn basic badminton skills including serving, volleying and rallying. This program provides children and youth with the opportunity to enhance their skills through a variety of drills and practice their skills through a non-competitive scrimmage.

The YMCA Basketball skill development program encourages participants to develop their confidence in a fun and supportive recreational environment.

Basketball Skills provides children and youth with the opportunity to enhance their skills through a variety of drills and practice their skills through a non-competitive scrimmage. The program will focus on teamwork, fair play, and cooperation.

Pickleball Skills encourages participants to develop their confidence in a fun and supportive recreational environment.

Participants will learn basic skills of pickleball including dinking, the volley, lobbing and strokes. This program provides children and youth with the opportunity to enhance their skills through a variety of drills and practice their skills through a non-competitive scrimmage.

Variety Dance encourages children to develop a joy for movement and dance.

Children will learn about rhythm, and experience basic movements related to a variety of dance styles including ballet, jazz, hip-hop, tap, and acro. This program hopes to spark a child’s interest in dance, while they have fun being active and trying something new.

Volleyball Skills encourages participants to develop their confidence in a fun and supportive recreational environment. This program provides children and youth with the opportunity to enhance their skills through a variety of drills and practice their skills through a non-competitive scrimmage.

YMCA Kid Fit Cardio is a circuit-based program focuses on cardiovascular endurance and strength. Obstacle courses allow children to engage in activities that help improve their hearts and lungs. These fun circuits enhance fundamental movement skills and improve stamina.

In a setting where play is encouraged, YMCA Kid Fit Cardio sets the tone for an active, healthy lifestyle.

YMCA Kid Fit Fun takes activities from all three of our Kid Fit streams!

Looking to try some obstacle courses and cardio circuits, balancing it out with yoga activities, and finishing off the session with a twist on sports from our YMCA Kid Fit Game On curriculum? This program is for you! In a setting where play is encouraged, YMCA Kid Fit Fun sets the tone for an active, healthy lifestyle.

YMCA Kid Fit Game ON focuses on coordination, movement skills, and object control.

These age-appropriate games with aims, teach children and youth how to handle balls, pucks, sticks, and racquets while staying active with fun individual and team-based activities.

It’s never too early to motivate and inspire children to be active!

With a focus on strength, endurance and flexibility, this program will enhance physical literacy; increasing body awareness, balance, coordination, and concentration. Incorporating music and stories will spark imagination.

YMCA Kid Fit Yoga helps increase self-awareness, body control, and boost self-esteem.

Youth Fit incorporates athletic conditioning and a fun environment, encouraging ongoing participation in physical activity.

Through games and fitness activities participants will improve their agility, balance and coordination, skills that are utilized in a wide variety of team and individual sports. Youth Fit incorporates activities that promote endurance and speed, strength, agility and power, and flexibility.

Improve your physical fitness, coordination, self-confidence, and personal discipline. Learn to block, punch, kick and defend yourself in a courteous and respectful atmosphere. We welcome everyone to join us in a lifelong journey that is the centuries-old traditional martial art of Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate.

Financial Assistance

We want every child and youth to have opportunities to build skills, make connections, and find a place to belong at the YMCA.
