YMCA Beyond the Bell™
YMCA Beyond the Bell™ is an academic-based after school program that keeps the well-being of every child in mind. It combines recreation, academic assistance, nutritional snacks, and socialization activities all aimed at building confidence, developing social skills, promoting physical activity and enhancing academic achievement.
YMCA Beyond the Bell™ is currently offered in St. Catharines at Harriet Tubman Public School and Lincoln Centennial Public School. It is designed for students in grades 2 to 5 who receive teacher or school administrator referral to the program. Registered students attend the program four days per week after school.
There is no cost for children to participate in YMCA Beyond the Bell™ thanks to the continued support from donors and funders who share our desire to see every child succeed.
What makes YMCA Beyond the Bell™ successful?
- Focused programming on literacy and numeracy, two areas where children can easily fall behind their peers.
- Homework help based on the needs and grade level of children attending.
- A positive, supportive, and safe program environment.
- Individualized attention in a low staff to child ratio of 1 staff for every 5 children.
- YMCA staff with knowledge and experience in education and being a role model.
An after-school snack is provided during the program. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of structured activities. Program activities include homework time, literacy and numeracy activities, social skills, creative activities, and more!
