YMCA Adventure Club

In 2020, at a time when children’s programs were being cancelled, the YMCA of Niagara took on the challenge of providing meaningful program experiences to children who need it the most!

Adventure Club was developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in collaboration with Family and Children Services Niagara and Niagara Region Children’s Services. It is a referral-based program for children between the ages of 6 to 12 who are at-risk or in vulnerable situations. Adventure Club operates in St. Catharines or Niagara Falls in the spring and fall to offer outdoor programs for children, provide at home resources, and supports for their families.

“Adventure Club has been such a fantastic camp for my children. They have loved the different activities, meeting new friends and their YMCA Counsellors who have led them on many awesome adventures. YMCA Adventure Club has been such a valuable asset to enriching my girls’ lives, and I am so grateful that camps like this exist to add to their childhood memories growing up. Thank you to the YMCA and everyone that contributes to making Adventure Club what it is, for my family and others.”

“Parents were happy to see that their children had a place for her themselves, away from home but under good supervision with the trusted YMCA. Upon each return from the program, my child was happy, full of plans, and feeling independent!”

“Adventure Club helped my child’s mental health; not playing with friends has had a huge impact on them.”

“Every day they came home positive and refreshed from all the amazing experiences and new activities encountered; i.e. archery, songs, and loved the staff. Life was sunny and bright for all of us!”
