What is the YMCA Beyond the Bell program?

YMCA Beyond the Bell is an academic-based after school program that keeps the well-being of every child in mind. It emphasizes literacy, numeracy, recreation, and homework help. We provide an environment for children to play and learn. One that is structured, supervised, supportive and safe.

Students have the opportunity to attend YMCA Beyond the Bell three days per week after school.  The program runs until 5:30 pm Monday to Thursday, and until 5 pm on Fridays. Please note it does not run on PA Days or on days when school is not offered.

When does the program begin and what does it involve?

YMCA Beyond the Bell will start at Lincoln Centennial Public School the week of November 4, 2019 and run until the week of June 19, 2020. There is no cost for your child to participate; thanks to support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the District School Board of Niagara. YMCA Beyond the Bell is designed for students grades 1 to 5, teacher referral is required.

An after-school snack is provided during the program. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of structured activities. Program activities include homework time, literacy and numeracy activities, gym games, social skills, creative activities, and more! Fridays are Club Day where students will have the opportunity to sign up to participate in a club group that interests them for a specific length of time (i.e. 6 weeks).
