If we don’t need anything this season let’s consider someone who does.
As the mother of five children, Ashley knows the importance of making sure her kids get to go, do and be just like other kids. But her kids aren’t like other kids. Her kids are going through a challenging time.
Their self-employed father has been in the hospital for months. He is likely to be there a very long time, healing from serious injuries. They all want him home again, but Ashley wants something else too.
That’s where you can make a difference. Ashley’s kids love coming to the YMCA to do all the things that kids do at the Y – learn to swim, play in the pool, play games, go to Day Camp, and learn values from positive role models. Ashley’s kids feel the support of their Y community.
These kids enjoy the Y through donor support of YMCA Strong Kids. For many children, it is the only way they will get to participate along with other kids. YMCA Strong Kids enables us to say “yes” to a child who wants to join a Y program, despite their financial situation.
“Being able to maintain that routine of coming to the Y has meant everything to us…The kids get the chance to just be kids and forget about the uncertainty and the sadness.”
We can’t do it without you.
Please help us say “yes” to a child this New Year. Among the gifts you give this holiday season, please consider a gift that will help a child in need go, do and be a kid at the Y, just like other kids.
