This is Abdul's story.
Abdul is a parent who found the YMCA of Niagara as a newcomer to Canada. His family has been working with a SWIS (Support Worker in Schools) YMCA staff member, Farkhundeh to help them transition into their new community.
The YMCA was helpful and treated us well.
The day we came to Canada, we spoke little English. Farkhundeh helped us transition to this new life.
She helped with the English paperwork to send our children to school and found much-needed school supplies for them. She treated us well and helped us when we also wanted to go for extra education.
Farkhundeh is the pride of our community.
