The more they do, the more they can do. But kids whose families face financial barriers can often miss out on opportunities to be active and connected. In 20 priority neighbourhoods across the region, the YMCA provides Youth Action, an evening program in local schools for youth ages 10-14. YMCA staff serve as consistent role models and engage kids in activities that promote physical activity, leadership and fun at no cost to the participants. Since 1985 this important community program has been providing recreation opportunities to youth who need it most, thanks to generous donations from community organizations and individuals.
