YMCA Program Spotlighted in the St. Catharines Standard
We’re grateful to the St. Catharines Standard for recently shining a light on YMCA of Niagara’s In Motion & Momentum+ program and the work being done every day to help young people build confidence, connection, and a path toward meaningful employment.
The article explores how the program helps young people build confidence, strengthen connections, and prepare for meaningful employment at a time when youth unemployment remains a significant challenge in Ontario.
Led by Youth Empowerment Coordinator Lindsay Burns, In Motion & Momentum+ recognizes that employment readiness begins long before writing a résumé or preparing for an interview. By helping participants better understand themselves, build resilience, and develop meaningful connections, the program lays the foundation for lasting success.
“The No. 1 thing youth are looking for is support and a cheerleader.”
– Lindsay Burns, Youth Empowerment Coordinator, YMCA of Niagara
In Motion & Momentum+ is one of several youth-focused employment initiatives offered through YMCA of Niagara’s Employment Services, alongside programs such as the Youth Employment Skills Program (YESP) and the Newcomer Youth Employment Program.
We appreciate reporter Victoria Nicolaou for bringing attention to the experiences of young people in Niagara and the importance of investing in programs that help them discover their potential and move forward with confidence.
