This is Meagan's story.
Meagan is a YMCA Child Care parent who has found a sense of community. Her kids have fun and feel loved and supported when they’re there.
They have supported him in feeling safe and connected
Our family has been attending YMCA Child Care for two years, and through this program, my children have made lasting friendships with their peers. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to meet and build relationships with other parents at pick-up and through conversations with staff related to friendships, creating a supportive network of families who share similar values and experiences. The staff at our Child Care Centre not only encourage positive interactions among the kids but also organize events that bring parents together. This sense of community enhances our overall experience with the Y.
There are so many positive moments we have from YMCA Child Care. The Y is my kids’ favourite part of their day, and often at pickup, I am told, “Why are you so early!” I have especially loved the connection staff have encouraged between my own kids. My youngest son can be emotional and miss his brother at times, and the staff have supported him in feeling safe and connected with his brother while also fostering some independence.
The staff put so much work into events for the kids—The Olympic competitions as games, special crafts for holidays. My child was even learning to crochet at the Y! The staff have so many fun and educational activities for the kids, and I know how loved and supported they are when they are there.
