YMCA Social Society

Welcome to Niagara’s newest social group; we can’t wait to have you join us!

Jump to:

The YMCA developed ‘Social Society’ to combat social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

At a time when making connections is a challenge, the YMCA of Niagara continues to find unique ways to bring people together. The YMCA is excited to continue offering virtual social and recreational programs to Niagara adults (18+) experiencing social isolation this spring.

Thanks to funding from the Government of Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund, the Social Society was piloted at little or no cost to participants during February and March 2021. The response from our community has been very positive, with over 175 registrations.

As we move forward, a fee to participate will be introduced for Social Society programs. The cost for each program will vary based on the operational costs. Moreover, to ensure the fee is not a barrier to participation, financial assistance will be available for those who qualify.

It is easy to join the Social Society!

Niagara adults (18+) have the opportunity to participate in engaging social and recreational programming, allowing them to feel connected and enhance their skills.

At this time, all Social Society programs are online. Safety remains at the forefront of our programs as we promote health and inclusion. Furthermore, programs will incorporate time for social connections and skill development in a fun and interactive environment.

Registration

Interested participants can register online. Spaces are limited and will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. A valid email address is required to register.

Please refer to specific program descriptions for the fee associated with the program and any curb-side equipment pick up details. Curb-side pickups offered in St. Catharines and Niagara Falls, however shipping of supplies is not available.
