YMCA Summer Camp Activity of the Day: Lava Lamps

For today’s fun activity, we explore what happens when we mix some natural products together with items we have around the house!
1. Fill a see-through container (preferably a bottle or jar) 1/3 full of vegetable oil
2. Sprinkle glitter as desired
3. Add water to just below the top of the container
4. Add a few drops of food colouring (whatever colour you choose)
5. If you want – add some salt to the bottle and see what happens
6. Finish filling up the container with water and screw lid on tightly
7. Flip upside down and enjoy!
