A unique summer program for children 6 to 12 years of age
The health and well-being of our participants, staff and families is our top priority. Adventure Club is operating in accordance with Ontario Ministry of Health guidance and Niagara Region Public Health.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, YMCA Adventure Club provides children with a safe and inclusive environment, supportive relationships, the opportunity to have fun, enjoy being a kid, and develop their uniqueness.
Adventure Club is a six hour a day program with staggered start times to allow for screening of each child prior to entry of the program. Families will be given a start time for the four day program week after registration. Start times are scheduled every 15 minutes starting at 9am. The last end time will be 3:45/4pm based on the location selected.
Adventure Club is a 100% outdoor program. Pavilion shelters are available in the event of rain, planned activities will be modified, and frequent breaks scheduled in the event of extreme heat. During extreme weather Adventure Club may be cancelled, or hours adjusted at the discretion of the YMCA.
There is no cost for referred children to participate. Adventure Club is a collaborative recreational program experience between the YMCA of Niagara, Niagara Region Community Services, Family and Children’s Services Niagara, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Spaces are assigned on a first come, first served basis. To allow for as many children to participate as possible, there is a limit of one four-day program week per child.
During the registration process, please ensure you:
Complete the required fields and provide the most accurate information possible
Select the four-day week your child will attend
Select the city/location of the program
Note your preferred drop-off time (if applicable)
List all individuals that are authorized pick-ups (16+)
Complete the necessary waivers and forms
Enter the unique discount you would have received
A limited number of spaces are available for children with special needs, behavioural or physical considerations that would benefit from additional support to promote their integration into the group. Parents/caregivers of children who receive additional support in school, are in a specialized classroom, have an IEP or have a diagnosed special need (i.e. are experiencing high anxiety, Autism, ADHD, ODD, etc.) should speak to the Director of Inclusion prior to registering.
Groups and Physical Distancing
Adventure Club will be operating in groups of up to 10. Groups will stay together exclusively for the four days in each program week. Siblings will be placed in groups together when age and developmentally appropriate at the discretion of the YMCA.
Adventure Club activities are designed to promote physical distancing between participants. Within their group, children will be encouraged to maintain physical distancing when possible.
Illness and Symptoms
Children who are sick or have any symptoms associated with the COVID-19 virus should remain at home. A link will be provided after registration to use to report a child’s absence. Parents/caregivers should report any absences daily by 10:30am.
Prior to entering the program participants will be screened daily. If the child has a fever (forehead temperature of 37.2 or higher) or answers yes to any of the illness or travel related screening questions, the child will not be permitted to enter the program. Before entering the program, all staff and participants will be required to wash or sanitize their hands.
If a child begins to develop any symptoms during the program the parent/caregiver will be notified immediately and will be required to pick that child up as soon as possible. For the safety of everyone involved, the child(ren) will be removed from the group while waiting to be picked up.
Pick-up & Drop-off
Each participant will be given a 15-minute drop-off window to allow for screening, and 15-minute pick-up window. If parents/caregivers need to drop-off or pick-up outside of the designed times they will be provided with a site number to text in advance to let the staff know. The earliest drop off time is 9:00am and latest pick up time will be 3:45/4:00pm based on the site selected.

Children and individuals dropping off are required to physical distance, maintaining a minimum of 6 feet between parents and children waiting to sign-in. Only one adult per family should approach the sign-in table for drop-off or pick-up.
Only individuals 16+ listed as authorized pick-up during the registration process will be permitted to sign participants out. Authorized pick-ups including parents/caregivers will be required to show valid, government issued photo identification daily.
For the safety of everyone involved, parents/caregivers and authorized individuals are asked to remain at the sign-in area and will not be permitted to enter the Adventure Club program. Visitors are not permitted inside the program.
Swimming will not be a part of the Adventure Club program, but water games may be included on hot days. Children should come with a bathing suit and towel or change of clothing.
Transportation is not available, parents/caregivers are responsible for dropping off and picking up their children directly at the site and signing them in and out, with an Adventure Club staff.
Masks are optional for participants. They are welcome to wear cloth masks if they wish. Disposable masks may be given to a child to wear in the event of symptoms developing during the program while they are waiting to be picked up.
Children are required to bring all two snacks, a water bottle and lunch with them. Sharing of food will not be permitted. Food or snacks will not be served as part of the program.
Personal items or toys will not be permitted in the program. All necessary items should be clearly labelled with the child’s first and last name.
The maximum program hours are 9am to 4:15pm, there is no extended care/hours available.
