Adapting for Change in an Ever-Changing World
On Wednesday, March 9, the YMCA of Niagara will host our second annual Report to the Community. We invite the community to join us as we launch our new vision and strategic plan to help realize a healthier Niagara.
As the YMCA embarks on a period of renewed evolution to better serve our Niagara community, we welcome Harvard-trained psychiatrist and expert in human motivation, Dr. Shimi Kang for a thought-provoking and engaging discussion on the one skill consistently proven to lead to success; adaptability.
Dr. Kang will discuss the science behind adaptability and its core ingredients of creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking. She will explain how these key 21st century skills are needed now more than ever in our rapidly changing, globally connected, and ultra-competitive world.
A critically acclaimed author, lecturer, media expert and public speaker, Dr. Kang is the Medical Director of Child and Youth Mental Health for Vancouver and a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia. She was honored with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 for her years of outstanding community service, and has received five national awards in the field of addictions and mental health including the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry Research Award. Dr. Kang is also the best-selling author of The Dolphin Way.
