Port Colborne

The YMCA of Niagara, in partnership with the City of Port Colborne have formed a long term partnership to provide health and fitness programs and services within the new Vale Health & Wellness Centre which opened February 16, 2013.

The Vale Health & Wellness Centre is a 145,000 sq ft facility that includes two NHL size rinks, a 25 metre lap pool, a leisure pool, an indoor walking track, a gymnasium and bocce courts.

Residents are encouraged to purchase a membership to access YMCA programs and services, but residents can also buy day passes and swim passes priced at a fair fee for the value.

The YMCA builds healthy communities by helping you to achieve your personal goals as part of a community of people that nurtures both your success and the success of your local community.

Financial Assistance

As a charitable organization, the YMCA strives to serve all segments of the community, including those with limited financial means. Donors to the YMCA make it possible.   Last year, our YMCA awarded financial assistance to over 17,493 individuals, enabling them to participate in a variety of programs and services.  Our Membership Assistance program serves those individuals and families who have the greatest need in our community. They are unable, not unwilling, to pay the full fee for a general membership.
If your current financial circumstances are limiting your ability to participate, financial assistance may be provided.

The new YMCA located within the Vale Health & Wellness Centre will be the centre of the community and will welcome everyone to a wide range of programs and services.

Within the larger complex, the YMCA will operate what is known as the “warm side” of the building which includes the Leisure and Lane Pools, Fitness Centre, Change Rooms, Gymnasium, and Play Centre.

• a 25 metre lane pool and leisure pool, for swim instruction, aquatic exercise, rehabilitation and recreation

• fully accessible facility featuring an elevator, wheel chair ramp, and aquatic wheel chair

• pool features including seated area with warm water jets and spray features for children.

• a gymnasium, divisible into three sections and flexible to let kids play, families connect, and youth shoot hoops – all at the same time

• social gathering areas within a friendly and  welcoming environment

• specialized child minding facility (Play Centre) to support families using the YMCA

• family change facilities

• a physically accessible design

• access to indoor public track

 •  a health and wellness space focusing on health enhancement in spirit, mind and body

Our Partnership
The YMCA of Niagara is proud to acknowledge the support and leadership of the City of Port Colborne.
This collaborative approach to offering service will enable the City and the YMCA to serve more
families in more meaningful ways. Together we are able to build a healthy community.
